And either didn't know, or as many tabloid outlets had suspected, was milking the attention for publicity.

Nevertheless, it was the 2nd time I hung out with Ashlee Simpson.  The first time was after her album "Autobiography" when she was doing radio promo appearances pushing the album. 

In this 2008 interview, we discussed her encounter with a DJ who claimed she was drunk during their interview.  Obviously, she entered my interview with trepidation.  What I wanted to do as the interviewer was to make her feel comfortable, so I addressed what was being written in blogs right off the bat, asked her side and moved on quickly.

With some artists, you are given a laundry list of things your asked to avoid.  Such as personal involvment with other artists, more specifically her relationship with Pete Wentz, because at the time they were still "just dating" but what I realized after the story broke on May 28, 2008 was that Ashlee was pregnant during our interview.  Imagine how the line of questioning would've been different had I known this information as fact.

Ashlee was a sweet girl, as she always is.  I even had the chance to hang out with her husband Pete Wentz backstage at a Fall Out Boy concert a few years later and he's a genuinely nice guy too.  Most recently she has been added to the cast of Melrose Place on the CW Network.
