I met Ja Rule in Philadephia in 2001 backstage at a radio concert.  You know how they say a picture is worth 1,000 words.  Well, this photo I took with Ja Rule was worth about a million.  It says it all.  When I met Ja Rule, he was baked outta his mind.

It was a really cool setting where all the artists were mingling outside their dressing rooms, talking amonst one another.  But the trail of smoke that followed Ja Rule from his dressing room was super obvious.

Now when your about to meet a celebrity a few things roll through your head.  Will they take a photo with me?  Are they as cool as they seem on television?  My friend told me such and such about this person, wonder if it is true?

I went into meeting Ja Rule with none of those thoughts.  I happened to come across him while walking backstage, and while I asked for a photo...he didn't seem to care.  In fact he probably didn't know what was happening.  Now to his defense, he took the stage later that evening and killed it.  Afterall, this was around the time you couldn't hear a song on the radio without having Ja Rule attatched to it somehow.  People would even kid and yell "THE RULE BABY" just making fun of the fact he was on every single!

My experience with Ja Rule  albeit brief, wasn't very memorable for either of us.  Eventually you saw Ja Rule on the big screen in Exit Wounds and The Fast And Furious movies, his musical career since, has gone up in smoke.
